Facebook Jumps Onboard The Censorship Wagon

Facebook has now decided to curtail its users from posting comments, which it considers to be inappropriate or irrelevant. Seriously? I’m not really sure how much relevant information I’ve ever actually seen on Facebook. They tell us that it is for the protection of those who share and connect on Facebook. And from what I understand it’s all done through some type of automated service. No more malware, no more spam, no more ‘bad actors’. (What?) Reportedly, if your post doesn’t meet the standards for “contribut(ing) to (a) post in a positive (manner)” you receive an error message. What next? The Twitter Police? Granted, you don’t want to face unnecessary penalties because of someone else’s comments, but censorship? Maybe we could get a 3-4 second delay set up like they had to during the Super Bowl airings due to that nasty old wardrobe malfunction.

Personally I derive great pleasure paging through my You Tube postings on a regular basis just to delete the unwanted comments. BAM—you’re history! It’s an amazing power rush.

How many of you have attended a concert at the Garden? Some of music’s biggest celebs have performed there and all have marveled at the reportedly perfect acoustics. But with the seating remodeling, the ceiling overhaul and all the other alterations taking place one may be left to ponder: will the sound be as flawless as it once was or if in reality the renovators have failed miserably to improve on perfection (at least as it relates to acoustics). Aah… This Is The Life

Imagine sitting back on a poolside chaise lounge, laptop at your side; banana daiquiri in one hand, personal fan in the other—dictating to your laptop about the hardships of having to travel for a living as a freelance writer. Your heart just goes out to that type of individual doesn’t it? You don’t have to have a job writing brochures for the Lindblad Expeditions Travel Company in order to write off your travel on your taxes. If you’re in business for yourself as a freelance writer, travel may well be part of your daily ‘grind’… Poor thing. Of course if you’re going to write off that kind of expense you better be sure that you have something to show for it in the way of work/income. Invest In A Good Camera

Hey if nothing else it’s another tax write off! Taking pictures with your cell phone probably won’t cut it, but you never know. A good (it doesn’t have to be great) camera should suffice. All the Comforts Of Home And Then Some

Then again, if what I want to do is get away from it all and not be bothered with my freelance for a while, it would be the perfect opportunity to get about as far away from it all as I possibly can but still enjoy the luxurious amenities of a tropical fantasy island setting. I mean that is the point of getting away from it all to begin with is it not? To remove ourselves from the hustle and bustle of the everyday craziness that is the world in which we live? And that’s exactly what you’ll get when you visit the islands; pristine, very nearly untouched examples of Mother Nature at her very best. Clear blue ocean waters, sandy beaches, fresh air and clear blue skies (except for the occasional shower during the ‘summer’ months)—funny saying that when referring to an area where every day is virtually summer.

Come To Think Of It, Why Do I Want An Internet Connection?

If I were doing a story that revolved around the islands of Maldives I could certainly type it into my laptop and were I to need anything from the Internet, grab it when I get back to the mainland. And maybe even find some kind of information in the library at the resort where I happen to be staying (with books—like they did in the old fashioned days). With other amenities available and the natural surroundings themselves being completely and totally irresistible; I’m not sure how anyone could have a singular complaint. No wi-fi? Really?

No problem.
