Becoming a Freelance Songwriter
Becoming a freelance songwriter is a lot like becoming a freelance writer; you have to put your material out there and hope that someone notices it (but likes it, any ways).
Once You Get Noticed
Once you have piqued someone else’s interest, you may be called upon to offer more samples of your work. Familiarize yourself with copywriting. Sending your songs throughout the world via the Internet is a great way to be noticed but it’s also a good way for someone else to steal your stuff. There are endless websites from which you can gather all the in’s and outs of copyrighting.
Freelance Writers
Take singer-songwriter Mason Reed for example. With a flair for country, both musically and vocally, he has published an album online consisting of four songs. I Don’t Love Nobody; I’m Only In A Break Your Heart; Not Perfect And Poor Old Man are all online and available for not only listening but for purchase as well.
Though Mr. Reed seems to have his hands in many things, singing and songwriting is clearly one of his better choices. And you can bet that each of his songs are copyrighted and protected. As well they should be.
