Get Paid to Write

1143344_daffodil_notebookWhen it comes to getting paid to write, it’s something that a lot of people dream about. They think it means being their own boss and getting paid for ‘easy’ work that they love to do. They don’t see it as a ‘real’ job, but it is. It’s hard work, and finding ways to get paid for it can be difficult.

However, with a little persistence there are ways that you can get paid to write. The first thing you have to do (other than being a good writer) is to find job leads. There are many sites that offer them, because there are always people who need something written and who are either too busy to do it on their own or who don’t feel qualified to undertake a writing project.

When you spend some time on the sites that offer paid writing jobs you’ll quickly get the hang of who you’ll be competing against, what kinds of rates you can charge, and what kinds of qualifications you’ll need to have. Those are all vital pieces of information, and you can’t be competitive without them, so take the time to learn what you need to know before you apply.

Can You Be A Writer?

1147977_vintage_fountain_pen_1A lot of people think that anyone can be a writer, but that’s not actually the case. Anyone can be taught to write, but to be truly good at it there needs to be some natural talent as well.

In addition, writers have to be disciplined, they have to know where their strengths and weaknesses are, and they have to master the language. In other words, if English is your second language and you don’t write it well, you’d be better off writing in your native language. Being able to get across what you are trying to convey is crucial.

Being able to write isn’t the only thing that a writer needs, because freelance writing is a business, and if you don’t know anything about business you can have some trouble as a freelance writer, even if you write very well. You have to be self-motivated, and you have to know how to market what you have to offer so that people will want your services. You should also be able to shrug off rejection and failure because you’ll have some of that, no matter how good you are.
